Rally for "hope and unity" to happen at Georgia Capitol

The Democratic Party of Georgia will be partnering with several affiliate organizations for a Hope & Unity Rally at the Georgia Capitol at 206 Washington Street in Atlanta on Monday, August 15 at 9 a.m.

Organizers say the rally will "unite Georgians who have been sidelined by our state’s republican legislation: policies that are against public education, against workers and anti-middle class."

Participants are asked to bring signs and flags not attached to sticks or poles and to carpool or take MARTA public transit.

"It is imperative to have a good turnout for this event," said Cobb Democratic Women President RuthE Levy. "I urge everyone to participate."

The event is primarily for those who are facing HOPE Scholarship cuts, educators fed up with furloughs, union members wanting to protect their rights, and others wishing to unite for human rights, dignity, and equality.
