BREAKING NEWS: Ohio prosecutor states accused school shooter is "someone who is not well..."

Chardon, Ohio prosecutor David Joyce said in a press conference following the first hearing for T.J. Lane, the accused killer of three students in a school cafeteria, that Lane was "someone who is not well." This opens up the defense for an insanity plea. Joyce also said that Lane told police investigators that he shot five students at random and did not know them.

Under Ohio law R.C. 2901.01(A)(14), "A person is 'not guilty by reason of insanity' relative to a charge of an offense only if the person proves, in the manner specified in section 2901.05 of the Revised Code (i.e. by a preponderance of the evidence), that at the time of the commission of the offense, the person did not know, as a result of a severe mental disease or defect, the wrongfulness of the person's acts."

Lane remains in protective detention, ordered by Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Grendell. More news is unfolding as the investigation moves forward.
