Immigration forum scheduled for June 30

Cobb Immigrant Alliance (CIA) will be hosting a Town Hall/Public Forum on Thursday, June 30, from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at Crosspoint Church, 4061 King Springs Rd. in Smyrna, Ga.

The purpose of the meeting is to separate myths from facts, discuss immigration issues in general and the new Georgia immigration law (HB87) in particular, and to bring diverse elements of the community together to solve real problems (jobs, healthcare, education, public safety).

“We are one people, and together we can survive and advance in spite of the vested interests attempting to divide us," said Rich Pellegrino, director of CIA.

"The new immigration bill, HB87, signed into law by Governor Deal, is another unfunded mandate and diversionary tactic based on myths, targeting and scapegoating our new immigrant neighbors while costing the state's taxpayers millions," he said.

The Cobb Immigrant Alliance is a voluntary, grass roots organization composed of individual members of non-profit, business, religious, educational, human and civil rights entities. The group highlights significant contributions of immigrants in the community.
